Patch 0.599fufu (Hotfix)

Summary: Hotfix due to a number of disruptive bugs! To fix the last one I had to do a bit of a structural change to the remote interaction with NPCs, which could've broken a ton of stuff. It shouldn't have, of course, but you know how it is!

Considering we're currently recommending new streamers to go Frontline, I'm actually going to bring this patch to the Stable branch if no new major issues get reported before 0.599g (a guy can dream, right?)

Summary: I know I promised this patch to arrive during the weekend, but I was sidetracked by adding some more stuff than I had originally planned! (I also admittedly blew most of Saturday on Pillars of Eternity...)

Anyways, the main focus of this patch is on Arcade Mode, which has gotten some pretty significant balance changes applied to the healing part, as well as four new floors! Our own testing suggests that the effects are very noticable, but it only feels "fair". I'm actually guessing the new Arcade Mode is roughly as difficult as the old one, despite the new floors! This might seem like a weird non-change, but we feel the difficulty on future floors is going to scale much more smoothly after this.

We've also added a few new items (some of which escaped the patch notes). The ones not listed are Winter's Guard (shield), Armor of Autumn and Summer Greaves. (edit: and a Gift Box Shield!)

Oh, and you can also specify Arcade Mode seeds now, which means you can create a persistent labyrinth! This is mostly for speedrunning, I'd think. Use it with "/seed <whatever>" when in Arcadia

Two Seasonne floors and two Temple of Seasons floors have been added to the Arcade Mode
When reaching a new floor with full health, the Health Orb will become a Health Potion, which heals for 20 % of MaxHP on use
You can now specify Arcade Mode seed by using /seed, which lowers score by 90 %, reduces Essence and disables Trophies
You can now drop items in the ground for other players to pick up (Story Mode only!)
There's now a limited range of emotes you can use - see a list with the /emote command!
A lot of the things in Seasonne and the Toy Factory now sounds like the stuff they are instead of slimes!

Summary: Time 4 Friendship guise! My apologies for rolling out this patch a few days late. Its main feature is not important to everyone, but very important to some, namely: multiplayer is now enabled in Temple of Seasons!

Multiplayer is a bitch to test, so unlike the other patches the risk for the game behaving badly is much greater (although not so great that it should be expected). Then again, that's what a beta is for, right?

There are now a couple of semi-placeholder cutscenes before and after the last temple boss, framing the fight a bit better. Especially the cutscene at the end will receive an overhaul before moving on with the story! Anyways... patch notes!

Winter's Frozen Winds now only slow the players by 30 %, down from 60 %
Winter's winds from the side has been widened to accomodate a slightly changed map layout

Summary: This surprise patch features some small changes, bug fixes and one important addition: a release candidate implementation of the Temple of Seasons boss! Currently, it's mechanics only, meaning the boss have no cutscenes and beating him does not actually progress the game. Also, the room visuals and some boss related graphics are not final.

The reason why we do this update is to stay true to the promise of updating the game in smaller pieces, whenever we want feedback on something new. We figured we might as well collect feedback on the boss battle while we're working on the padding (i.e. cutscenes)!

So, if you don't mind battling the boss without the proper cutscene, jump in, try him out and tell us how it felt!

Summary: This update allows you to turn in the Toy Factory quest and continue on with your journey, entering the Temple of Seasons! You can't go through the entire temple yet, but we upload this update so those interested can do what we have beta testers for: test stuff!

Roughly half the temple will be available in this patch, including most enemies and two out of three bosses.

Please note that many details are not implemented properly, including sound effects and the actual temple music!

Veterans! Please try out the new content with reasonably leveled and equipped characters! I have unlocked some of the more powerful chat commands, including "/setlevel X" where you can lower or raise your level however you like, and also "/equip" which will give you an assortment of equipment if you want to try something with more or less powerful gear.

Summary: This update should totally have received a higher version number and not just a "c", but I've already uploaded it so whatever! Anyway: Talents!

We've added the talent system, a skill point refund system, and removed one of the planned charge levels for spells. You can read more about it all in today's blog post.

To start things off, we've added 10 talents for each tree (including some suggested by you guys!), but that's just the beginning. We're planning to add a bunch more, but we thought we would test it out a bit in the wild before deciding what directions to take. My dream scenario is having 20-30 talents in each category!

Patch 0.580b
Summary: Fixed some common issues with the content released in the patch below. Also attached a .wld file where the Toy Factory quest hasn't been triggered (for people interested in replaying it). Go to %APPDATA%/Secrets of Grindea/Worlds and name it 0, 1 or 2 depending on which character slot you want it to use.

The Toy Factory boss now forcefully triggers the cutscene with Luke on a much higher % of health (up to 80 % from 45 %)
The size of the cutscene trigger outside of Santa Fae has been increased to disallow players for going to the caves instead

Note: Please do not use overpowered characters while testing! We're open to the possibility that encounters are too easy, but if we balance after veterans playing with epic gear and super strong pets, normal players won't be able to damage it, so leave your überpets behind and maybe unequip a piece of super gear :D

Summary: This update should be pretty safe, but if you want to be extra cautious, you can back up your save files using Yuuki's Savefile Manager.

Compared to the last update, this is a bit less story and a bit more gameplay! You can now enter Seasonne (aka the Winterland), and play through the new mini-dungeon: the Toy Factory. Note that while the graphics and mechanics are pretty much all in, the areas haven't yet received proper sound effect treatment! You'll have to pretend everything doesn't sound like slimes :D

Anyway, please test away, find bugs and post feedback on the Winterland and (especially) the Toy Factory!

Patch 0.572a

Summary: Old players should probably back up your save before going into the game! You do this by going to %APPDATA%/Secrets of Grindea/ and then copy the save files in World and Character. Since the update makes changes to main story progress, it might be possible to get completely stuck!

The addition this time has been very asset thick, creating a new boss encounter followed by a bunch of cutscenes in the HQ. You can probably run through the new content pretty quick, but even small batches of content can contain a large amount of bugs, so test away! :D

We'd really appreciate some basic feedback on the Marino fight as well! Was it fun? Was it too easy or too hard?

Summary: Steam cloud sync for both versions has been added. Apart from that, it's mostly bug fixes and a few balance changes! I'll take a short break from bug fixing now unless someone finds a huge bug, and implement the Memory Room once and for all.
